Marianne and Germania were the female allegories of France and Germany nations respectively.

*The female allegories stood as personification of the republic and liberty.

* They were portrait such that they create a sense of nationality in the citizen of these countries. In France Marianne characters were drawn from those of liberty and Republic -the red cap and tricolour . Status of Marianne were erected in public square to remind the public of the national symbol of unity and persuaded them to identify with it. marianne images were marked on coins and stamps.
