Salanio and Salarino are worried about their friend, Antonio. Antonio is a merchant, who has his fortune, or better, ships at sea. Antonio has been showing a sad aura from the beginning which has made Salarino and Salanio worried. They think the reason for his sadness are his ships, and he is confused about the fate of his fortune, whether it had gotten wasted at the seas.
