IRDAI stands for Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India which is an independent body or organisation mainly responsible for supervising the entire insurance an re-insurance industries in the country.

Explanation:

The IRDAI was established under the Development Authority Act of 1999 which was a parliamentary act under the government of India.Under the IRDAI Act of 1999,the organisational structure of IRDAI consists of ten members from which five are full time and 4 are part time members and all the members are officially assigned by the central government.Presently,the chairman of the organisation is Dr.Subhash .C. Khuntia and the full time members of IRDAI comprise of Mrs. T.L.Alamelu,Mr.K.Ganesh,Ms. Purnima Gupte,Mr.Praveen Kutumbe and Mr.Sujay Banerjee.
