Mendeleev's arranged the elements, know at that time ,in the increasing order of their atomic masses. He put forward his law, knows as mendeleev's periodic law.

His periodic law states:

"The physical and chemical properties of element are a periodic function of their atomic masses"

One of the advantages of his periodic table is that,

Mendeleev's left vacant places for the undiscovered elements. Mendeleev's predicted the discovery of three elements and even foretold their properties with the help of his periodic law .

But at present all the elements are discovered and there is no vacant place in the periodic table
