Charles Wood also known was born on 20th December 1800  in Yorkshire, England. He was an Anglo-Indian Whig politicial party and  a Member of Parliament Of The British Empire during the period 1846-1866. He was the Member of Parliament from 1826 to 1866 and served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in Lord John Russell's government (1846 –1852)

He worked as President of the Board of Control under Lord Aberdeen (1852–1855).  He was instrumental in taking major steps in spreading education in India .
