Answer:

Muhammad Prophet  brought the teachings of holy Quran to India.

Many religions are further divided into groups based on the differences in the ideologies of its members. For instance in Islam, the followers are divided into Shias and Sunnis based on the differences in opinions regarding leadership soon after the death of Prophet Mohammad and continues till date.

While the Sunnis considered an elected Caliph as the leader, and elected the follower and disciple of the Prophet Abu Bakr as the first Caliph, the Shias consider a member of the Prophet's family , his cousin Ali to be the leader and now Imams whom they consider to be appointed by the Prophet or God himself.

The word Sunni in Arabic means "one who follows the traditions of the Prophet" and the word Shia means group or supporters and is a shortened form of Shia't Ali or "party of Ali".
