Answer:

The Aryan migration theory is dead. And the name is other way round, River Sindhu ended up being called the Indus River.

The people of Sindh got their name from the word Sindhu river which is what was the ancient names of the river. The name got changed with time and rulers changing across time. The Moghuls cos of their inability to use 'Sa' pronounced, the word ‘Sindh’ as ‘Hind', which is why the people of land where the river Sindhu flows came to be called as the land of Hind.

Now came the British, another set of long time rulers who didnt know how to pronounce the existing name Hind cos of their inability to pronounce 'Ha', which is what led to them call the land as 'Ind-ia'. This same effect of change in pronunciation of the river led to be called as the River Indus.
