There was a chicken which was more or like similar to chicken and also genetically similar to a hen. Some people used to call it proto-chicken. Initially, proto-chicken laid and egg and it was fertilized, during that a mutation that accidentally created a baby which was different from his parents, that species was known as the chicken, whose parents were not exactly chickens they laid an egg then later chickens came into the being. So the answer is that egg came first and then came the chicken.
