- Preliminary notice for the operation of the election shall be given by the Chief Electoral Officer detailing the timetable for the election. The President of India would then make an election announcement, as notified in the election schedule by the "Election Commission"
- A general election must be held for constituting a new Lok Sabha on the expiry or dissolution of the term of the current Assembly. The President must by notice published in the Gazette of India on any day or day as may be suggested by the Election Commission, call upon all parliamentary electoral constituencies to elect representatives in compliance with the provisions of this Act.
- The Indian Election Commission shall allow both the notification of the elections to Lok Sabha, the conducting of the polls as well as the counting & the announcement of results. After all the results have been announced, the President of India shall inform the establishment of Lok Sabha and shall invite the leader of the majority party to form the ministry.
