The answer is still not proved. Such questions are called Paradox where there are both the sides which can be taken.
From my side, I think it's the egg that came first because development of any living being be it animal, human, I etc starts with the division of one cell to many.
So there could be the development of a unicellular to multicellular organism called egg.
Still their are studies going on in Great Britain.
