Answers
Who comprised the third estate ?
The Third Estate comprised all the common people, this included small farmers, landless labourers, artisans, small and big traders, lawyers, employed people, and many other common people doing common work.
Explanation :
In the mid-century French society was divided into three states. First State, Second and Third State.
The first state consisted of the clergy and the ruling class.
The second state consisted of the very wealthy and the upper strata of society.
The third state included the general public, in which all workers, farmers, artisans, traders, shopkeepers, lawyers and other classes of people came.
The first and second states got all the rights and they had many tax exemptions. But the people of the Third State had very limited rights and had to pay all kinds of taxes. This was an example of the then feudal system of France, due to which the French Revolution was born.
