During colonial rule, the British believed that wild and large animals were signs of a society being primitive and savage. They awarded people for killing the tigers, lions, wolves, and other large animals since they were considered as a danger for the cultivators.

Explanation:

  • Hence the Raja, Princess and other hunters could hunt in forest reserves to kill the large animals.
  • The forest laws prohibited the hunting of animals. The British gave a reward for killing all the large animals.
  • They hunted with the rajas and prince of various kingdoms and killed many tigers, leopards, lions, and many other large animals.
  • They believed that the killing of these large animals would make India a civilized place.
