In the town meeting that happens in New England, a landowner can participate in it without interference.

However, these meetings were important to the colonists because it gives an opinion and voice to the colony as a community and governed.

Even though the member of the family can attend the meeting, the right to get involved was given to a man.

However, it shifted to landowner soon.
