The answer is Richard Arkwright.
Richard Arkwright created the first cotton mill in England. This cotton mill was set up in 1771 at Cromford in Derbyshire. This mill is now featured as a part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. Five years later, a bigger mill was established in the same place. Soon, additional mills came up in Wirksworth and Bakewell.
