According to Indian government they decided to all employees should get a holiday on Sunday. but. this holiday was given to all workers and for school they decided to give holiday as a rest

here it goes,
it was not demanded by anyone.
The Sunday was declared as holiday by government during the AITUC movement or communist movement the mill workers were given a holiday. then it was declared as a public holiday.
