The Boy Comes Home is a renowned play written by A. A Mile. It is centred upon generation gap, depicting Uncle James believes that his nephew Philip who has just returned from war is unpunctual and behaves like a school boy.
However, the war had greatly transformed Philip's personality, and as Aunt Emily said to Uncle James, Philip's four out there have made more of a man and he doesn't seem like a boy who can be told to do what. So, one would sympathise more with Philip than Uncle James because:
• After the war Philip takes his own decision and no one can dictate him
• The war has also taught him how to handle people
