IBM Simon was the first phone with a touchscreen in 1992.
Dr. G. Samuel Hurst developed resistive touchscreens almost accidentally.
In 1998, FingerWorks is a company that is based on gesture recognition made a line of multi-touch products that includes iGesture Pad and TouchStream Keyboard.
The company was acquired by Apple in 2005.
Later mobile phones and tablets making brands like Samsung, Nokia, HTC, etc took up this technology into the commercial purpose.
