Firstly Aristotle for 2 kingdoms differentiating plants and animals on basis of morphological features.

Thereafter Linnaues classified again these both kingdoms in terms of features like

* Mode of nutrition

* Response to external stimulus

* Contractile system

* Organisms

Then the third kingdom was introduced by Ernst Haeckel named Protista which consisted of unicellular eukaryotic microorganisms.
