it was first discovered by William Bateson, Edith Rebecca Saunders and Reginald Punnett.and was described by Thomas morgan

The idea of genetic linkage was first discovered by British geneticist William Bateson, Edith Rebecca Saunders and Reginald Punnett.

And Thomas Hunt Morgan described this idea of linkage after noticing that in some instances the observed rate of crossing -over events differed from the expected rate of crossing-over events....i hope it helps you
