Robert Hooke discovered cells while working on his microscope around 1665. He observed cell in cork an has discovered about this in a book called ' Micrographia '. Later, Leeuwenhoek saw more different types of cells and bacteria.

ROBERT HOOKE discovered cells in 1665. he took the bark of  the tree ,made a thin slice and observed under the self made microscope. he saw honey comb like compartments .he called them cellulae meaning a small room in Latin. He named each compartment as a cell.
