hey!!!...

Cells are the basic unit of life. They are found in every living creature either as only one cell, these animals are called unicellular organisms or single celled organism and also exist as millions in multicellular organisms. A cell is the smallest part of a living thing which is capable of carrying out basic life processes. Examples of living organisms made up of single cell are Amoebae, Paramecium,Bacterium,Algae,Yeast. The single cell performs all the processes such as digestion, excretion, reproduction etc to keep the organism alive. Living things such as plant and animals are made up if many cells. A large animal like an elephant is made up of many more cells than a small animals like a frog. Like other animals,a human being is a multicellular organism made up of many cells. The largest human cell in terms of volume is an egg cell, which has a diameter similar to that of a strand of hair. As most cells are tiny we have to observe them by using a microscope. An ordinary microscope can make objects appear bigger up to several hundred times through the use of lenses. There are two types of cells, animal cells and plant cells. Animal cells consists of a nucleus, cell membrane, cytoplasm and vacuoles. Plant cells comprises of nucleus, vacuole, cell wall, cytoplasm, cell membrane and chloroplasts. More than 300 years ago (1665) ,a scientist,Robert Hooke, used a microscope to observe thin slices of cork. He found that the cork was made up of tiny boxes which he called ‘cells'.
