Cell : The basic unit of life was discovered by Robert Hooke.

Now coming to the next part that how it was discovered?

=>  He ( Robert Hooke )  saw that the cork resembled the structure of a honeycomb consisting of many little compartments. Cork is a substance which comes from the bark of a tree. In this way he discovered the cells.

Bonjour!!!

Robert Hooke in 1665 discovered cork cells under his self designed microscope. The cells were dead.
