Electrons were discovered by J.J Thomson.

While researching on canal rays, Thomson discovered that the canal rays were made up of negatively charged particles that were smaller than atoms, he called these electrons.

J.J Thomson won the Nobel Prize in Physics 1906 for his experimental investigations on canal rays (electrons).
