Native copper was known to the peoples of the Middle East as long ago as 9000 BCE.
Bronze was smelted in the Iranian Plateau in the 5th millennium BCE.
Iron was known in Egypt in the 4th millennium BCE.
That being said. Meteoric Iron or Native Copper, were both likely used by proto-humans in limited instances.
