Native copper was known to the peoples of the Middle East as long ago as 9000 BCE.

Bronze was smelted in the Iranian Plateau in the 5th millennium BCE.

Iron was known in Egypt in the 4th millennium BCE.

That being said. Meteoric Iron or Native Copper, were both likely used by proto-humans in limited instances.

Hope it helps:-)

Since man first discovered copper (Around 9000BC), a naturally occurring, relatively pure metal, native to many countries, the study and knowledge of metallurgy has been fundamental to the way humans have lived. ... Our fascination with metals began with Prehistoric man who began using a range of metals.
