Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin.
While he was working with his works about bacteria,he observed some type of fungus grew in his lab which can kill bacteria.From this fungus he discovered penicillin.

1. But it was not until 1928 that penicillin,
2. the first true antibiotic was discovered by Alexander Fleming Professor of Bacteriology at St. Mary's Hospital in London.
3. The fungus turned out to be Penicillium notatum, and the antibacterial molecule that it produced was named penicillin.
4. Fleming recorded his observations in the article in The British Journal of Experimental Pathology in 1929 [2], where he showed that penicillin is able to inhibit bacterial growth in vitro.
