Robert Hooke discovered the cell in 1665 . He saw that the cork resembles the structure of a honey comb consisting of many little compartments . He called these little compartments as cells .In this way he discovered cells .

Robert Hooke discovered a dead cell using his primitive microscope.It was Leeuwenhoek who discovered living cells for the first time in a drop of pond water.
