Who discovered the ruins of humpi in 1800

The Scottish Colonel Colin Mackenzie discovered the ruins of Humpi in the state of Karnataka in the year 1800. Being an engineer and antiquarian, he brough to limelight the temple town when he was the employee of the English East India Company and also the first Surveyor General of India. He also prepared the first survey map of the site and at present it is currently listed in the UNESCO world heritage site list.
