The first person who broke a piece of rock to get a sharp edge to make primitive knife or an axe. He created the first tool which multiplied what a human could do using only his hands (without the benefit of a tool). Of course the progress was very slow at the beginning. But human ingenuity has been present from the beginning and the outcome really accelerated with the invention of the steam engine; and of machines driven by the steam engine; with the invention of AC electricity and the electric motor; with the internal combustion engine; with the concept and reality of the production line; with the invention of motororised flight; with analogue electronics;with the jet engine; and finally with digital electronics and the Internet. The rate of acceleration of invention has increased exponentially.
