Plants respond to different stimuli by showing growth responses. These growth related movements are called tropic movements. This phenomena of responding is usually named as tropism. Tropism could either be positive or negative. Whenthe plant grows towards the stimuli, it's called positive tropism. And when the plant grows away from the stimuli, it's called negative tropism.

There are 5 different tropic movements :

1. Phototropism : Movement of a part of the plant in response to light.
2. Geotropism : Movement of of a part of the plant in response to gravity.
3. Hydrotropism : Movement of a part of a plant in response to water.
4. Chemotropism : Movement of a part of the plant in response to chemicals.
5. Thigmotropism : Movement of a part of the plant in response to touch.
