A normal person usually admire his/her parents as they had given birth to us or friends because they help us in every stage of our life or life partner/ lover on whom a person usually depend for the most of his/her life.

If you are asking for personal opinion,then I heavily admire my parents as I don't have a lover or friend,so I only have parents. However,my parents has never let me feel the absence of friends as I don't have one but my mom and dad ask and discuss me like a friend and suggest me as a parent/well wisher,that is the reason I cherish and respect my parents like god ( metaphor).God only gave me parents but they are like my life partner and friends,whom I cherish like my own life.
