Pruning Leaders: Our pruning season runs from August through early October. Similar to Crew Leaders, Pruning Leaders will pair up and guide volunteers in the fine art and science of pruning young street trees. We will have a brief demonstration of proper pruning technique, then break into small teams and practice our new skills on some trees near the office.
Summer Inspectors: Summer inspectors are always one of our most popular volunteers roles. Why? These trained volunteers learn how to assess the health of newly planted street and yard trees and give homeowners watering and mulching tips. Each inspector checks on his or her assigned trees twice during the summer, wrapping up by mid August. Plus, you get to stroll around Eugene’s beautiful neighborhoods in the summer sun at your own leisure. Not a bad way to do good work. Check back in May 2021 for the next Summer Inspector training!
