Establishment of Congress

⇒ Allan Octavian Hume founded the Indian National Congress ( INC ) on 28 th December 1885.

⇒ He was a retired officer of the Indian Civil Service and he wanted to setup the organization as it would draw the attention of the British Government towards the reforms that had to be done in administration.

⇒ In 1884 , Hume consulted with the Indian leaders and he tried to unite them under this organisation .

⇒ The INC met for the first time at Gokuldas Tejpal Sanskriti College at Mumbai on the date mentioned above.
