C. Van Neil (in 1930). first 'proposed' that oxygen is released from water and not from Carbon dioxide during photosynthesis.
Later on Robert Hill ( in 1937). 'proved' that oxygen liberates from water and not carbon dioxide he gave a reaction which is known as Hill's reaction.
