Maximilian Robespierre was the leader of the Jacobin club.When he formed the government he banned the use of more expensive bread and all citizen whether rich or poor had to eat the pain d'égalité (equality bread ).Equality was also sought through terms of speech .Instead of the traditional monsieur and madam all french citizens were henceforth citoyen and citoyenne.
