Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had formed the Six-Nation Five-Continent Initiative.
It brought together the heads of the governments of Argentina, Greece, Mexico, Sweden, Tanzania and India. It aimed at putting international pressure on the superpowers to reduce the number of weapons and eliminate nuclear weapons. Rajiv Gandhi held the first summit of the six leaders.
