The cell was first discovered by Robert hooke in 1665 using a microscope. The first cell theory is credited to the work of theodor schwann and matthias jakob schleiden in the 1830s
Cell theory states:
1)All living organisms are composed of one or more cells.
2)Cell is the basis unit of structure and organisation in living organisms
3)All cells arise from pre existing cells

Cell was first found by Robert Hooke in the year 1665. No more discoveries took place on the topic of cell until 1674, when Anyone Can Leuwenhoek, with his
improvised microscope found bacteria and other free living organisms.Cell theory was first initiated by M.J Schleiden (1838) and T.Schwann (1839) individually. This was later further expanded by Rudolph Verchow in the year 1885. The cell theory's postulates are:
1) All living things are made up of cell and cell structures.
2) All the cells are basically similar in chemical and metabolic processes.
3) All cells come from pre-existing cells.
4) The cell,thus forms the structural and functional unit of life.
