who gave the name Earth to earth ??

hey....

The google baba says that Earth became the common translation of the Latin Terraand the Greek Gaia, which I think were derived the same way.  And similar things happened in other Germanic languages.

In English usage, the planet is also sometimes called Terra, especially in Science Fiction..
