The Indian President has the power to summon or prorogue the Indian parliament.
The article 85(1) of the Indian Constitution has given this power to the President of the country to summon or prorogue both houses of the parliament at a time when deeming fit.
The President also has power to extend or curtail any session following some guidelines laid in the constitution.
