Halisicca Rupee was introduced by Salarjung 1 in the Nizam State.

Sir Mir Turab Ali Khan, Salar Jung I was considered the greatest Prime Minister of Hyderabad. He succeeded his uncle Siraj-ul-Mulk as the Prime Minister in 1853 .  He was conferred with the title Salar Jung and the first  three Prime Ministers who held on this title belonged to his family.

The  Princely States of Hyderabad State had its own currency, the Hali sicca, during British rule . It was allowed to be in circulation some time even after Independence. The first step in the process of replacement of the State currency was taken by the  Hyderabad Government themselves just before  integration when Indian currency was made  legal tender in that State and the exchange  value was fixed at six Indian rupees for seven  Hali Sicca rupees.

It was done keeping in mind the economic interest  of the country and the free flow of  trade and commerce.
