Answer: Nizam of Hyderabad

Tipu Sultan of the Kingdom of Mysore refused to do so, but after the British victory in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War (1799), Mysore was forced to become a subsidiary state. The Nizam of Hyderabad was the first to accept a well-framed subsidiary alliance in 1798.  The Subsidiary Alliance proved very advantageous for the British: The British maintained large armies at the expense of Indian rulers. They acquired valuable territories as subsidiary payment. This led to the expansion of the British Empire in India and an increase in its resources. An Indian ruler entering into a subsidiary alliance with the British had to accept British forces in his territory and also agreed to pay for their maintenance. ... Under this doctrine, Indian rulers under British protection surrendered the control of their foreign affairs to the British.
