Ghiyasuddin Balban introduced the Persian festival Nauroj in India.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Balban belonged to the Slave or Mamluk dynasty of Delhi Sultanate.

• He ascended the throne in 1266 AD and he is considered as the consolidator of Delhi Sultanate.

• The major achievement of Balban was he removed the powers of Chalisa or group of 40 nobles.

• Balban introduced the Divine Theory of Kingship.

Paibos [ kissing the feet of Sultan ] and sajda [ bowing before Sultan ] were introduced by him.

• He followed the blood and iron policy.
