Babur, the first Mughal ruler of India was invited to India by Daulat Khan Lodi (the Afghan governor of Punjab) in 1524 CE in order to dethrone Ibrahim Lodi, the Sultan of Delhi.

After the death Nasiruddin Muhammad Tughlaq the nobles of Delhi and enthroned an Afghan noble, Daulat Khan Lodi as the ruler of Delhi.

However in 1414 CE Khizr Khan, marched against Daulat Khan and seized the throne. Khizr Khan did not declared himself as Sultan and instead preferred to rule as a deputy to the Timur's son.

Later, the Lodi Dynasty came into the scene, the last ruler of Sayyid Dynasty was Alauddin Alam Shah, he was feeble and inefficient ruler who to give up his throne in favour of Bahlul Lodhi in 1451.

Bahlul Lodi founded the Lodi Dynasty. he he was succeeded by Sikandar Lodi. After the death of Sikandar Lodi is eldest son Ibrahim Lodhi ascended the throne.

Ibrahim Lodi was killed by Babur in First Battle of Panipat (1526 CE). Daulat Khan Lodi invited Babur to India so that he could dethrone Ibrahim Lodi.
