so sorry i have not seen the heater correct answer is cat
if you look at the pic the heat from the boiler comes to the cat as hot air is light and moves upwards and when it becomes colder out becomes heavy and chimes down to the dog..... so the car gets hot air

The cat is at the better place as the hot air coming from the boiler will go upwards as hot air is lighter than the cool air. So hot air first reaches the cat and then to the dog.
