Romanticism was a literary movement that began in eighteenth century in response to the Enlightenment age which was heavily influenced by logic and truth.
Romantics stood up for the importance of imagination and creativity that makes up a poet. They rejected the prescribed notions of truth and logic and asserted that human mind is more drawn to nature and imagination.
Coleridge emerged as one of the greatest Romantic poet in disregard who wrote poems filled with imaginative imagery treating nature as an entity that is mysterious and deep. He wrote major poem of the century including Kubla Khan, The Rime of Ancient Mariner etc.
For his extraordinary works, Saintsbury called him “the high priest of Romanticism.”
