Answer:

indirect election is an election in which voters do not choose between candidates for an office, but elect people who then choose. It is one of the oldest forms of elections, and is still used today for many presidents, cabinets, upper houses, and supranational legislatures...

Answer:

Elections are classified into direct and indirect , on the basis of the voters in it. Indirect elections are those elections in which the elected representatives vote , in contrast to the direct elections where citizens directly vote by the system of Universal suffrage.

In indirect elections , as in India , the constituency is also large and the elected representatives vote for the candidates. These elected representatives i.e, lok sabha & state legislative assembly together forms the electoral college . In India , the elections for the Rajya sabha, President and the Vice-president are held by the system of indirect election.
