I don't know which officer rank you are talking about as you haven't cleared it much, but i guess you mean IFoS Indian forest service, so a forest officer work is to administer forest and wildlife resources, there are many positions in this department like CF and DFO and a condidate have to appear for UPSC to be a forest officer, salary range is 2,25,000 of DFO to 56,000 of Assistant Inspector general.
