Like many other writers, O. Henry's early career aspirations were unfocused and he wandered across different activities and professions before he finally found his calling as a short story writer

He was born to Mr.Algernon Sidney Porter

and Mrs Mary Jane Virginia Swaim Porter

He passed away on June 5th , 1910
