Helen keller was an educator, activist,journalist.Helen Adams Keller was born on June 27, 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
Helen Keller was not born deaf and blind. When she was nineteen months old she got sicken with a mysterious disease which took away her eyesight and ability of hearing. The illness was diagnosed as acute congestion of the stomach and brain.

Helen was the first deaf and blind person to get a Bachelor of arts degree. She got this degree from the Redcliff College of Cambridge. She was a writer by profession. Her first book was her autobiography 'The Story Of My Life'. This a as published only when she was 20 years old. Later she wrote many novels. She wrote strongly about women's rights and freedom.
She only 19 monthsold when she got disease named congestion of stomach mind. Her fever got cured but she was left deaf and blind for the reat of her life and consequently she couldn't speak as well. But she was lucky enough to get born in a wealthy family who was able to afford a teacher for her and supplied with every requirements she would have. Her teacher was Mis. Anne Sullivan who was just 20 years old when she arrived at Helen's house. She arrived on May 7 1887, when helen was 7 years old. That day was the starting of a 49 year old teacher-student relationship which ended when Mis. Sullivan died.
