Gandhi first proposed a flag to the Indian National Congress in 1921. The flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya. In the centre was a traditional spinning wheel, symbolising Gandhi's goal of making Indians self-reliant by fabricating their own clothing

hdewangan: Gandhiji designed a flag which also has three colours orange, white and green. And in the middle it has 'charkha' (spinning wheel). But it is not national flag of India. Pingali venkaiya designed national flag which has same colour and instead of spinning wheel it has only a wheel in the middle known as Ashok Chakra
