"Raibahadur Lala Murlidhar" is called the "Grand old man of Punjab". In 1880, the Sikhs formed the "Sikh Sabha". When the "first Congress conference" was held in Bombay in 1885, only "Lala Murlidhar ji" was from Punjab (Haryana) amongst the 72 followers. On "April 13, 1919", the "Jalianwala Bagh massacre" took place and this resulted in deep tensions in the region. In protest, Lala Murlidhar gave up the title of "Sir" and "Rai Bahadur".
